Jakarta, VIVA – DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung is reviewing proposals for multi-level or vertical cemeteries to beat the restricted land for public cemeteries (TPU) in Jakarta.

This proposal follows a report from the South Jakarta Metropolis Parks and Forestry Division which said that out of a complete of 16 TPUs in South Jakarta (Jaksel), 9 of them had been full.

"Public cemeteries are at present an issue and are at present being studied. There are proposals, nevertheless it has not but been determined whether or not they're allowed to be carried out in levels, and this has been proposed," stated Pramono in Jakarta, Tuesday night, October 21 2025.

He acknowledged that restricted TPU land is an issue with the present growth of the town of Jakarta. Due to this fact, aside from multi-storey cemeteries, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Authorities (Pemprov) can be proposing a TPU exterior Jakarta.
